How To Add A Receptacle To A Light Switch How Do I Install A New Electrical Outlet And Light?

How do I install a new electrical outlet and light? - how to add a receptacle to a light switch

We need to add a new outlet and a lamp in a room of our house. I ran 12 / 2 son's basement in the fourth (3. floor). But now I'm not sure how to take the light and the switch is connected. I want to work on the light switch, but it is preferable that the outlet Recording / warm (not, however, remains a major problem if he should flee the switch)

I'm completely new to these issues, as I regularly install furnaces and air conditioners, including all electrical work in question. I also have many simple wiring throughout the house, but never more elements joined together like that.

Please share.

Easy. Visit your local Home Depot (or other) and get a "How To" book your project. This gives information on how you work.

Be sure to use three son, who is the thread that has a ground wire for the installation of switches and a separate sheet of light, too.
The building code requires. Some places, such as land required for carrots. Where are the cables then run the wiring of the switch. By changing the white wire should run straight through the light, the contact with a greenhouse-son on the switch. Connect the black wire to change from the wall for change, and the black wire from light to others. Check local building codes to see if there is a plug-FI needed.

Run the power of the vessel and then the switch, then the ilght. The black wire from the light switch and you do not connect the two (green) screw on the switch. Everything else should be sent to straght.

It is a good book called a simple wiring at The Home Depot, that meet most of these questions for you.

Note that characterized these days by a 2-wire cable (such as NM 14-2) actually consists of three drivers. They have no ground wire, but it's there.
