1080p vs. 720p HDTV to PC connectivity - major difference? - whats the difference between 1080p output and 1080p upconverting

I know the difference between 720p and 1080p is in order when it comes to video quality, but I know in terms of a PC for HD connection, there is a difference between 720p and 1080p LCD TV? And if so, what are the differences?

I want to use the LCD TV for gaming and graphics. My PC is compatible with HDMI, and I'm looking for a 32-inch LCD display.
